        Probably power supply related.

Not just the search - but you didn't provide much information. Not even which version etc.

It is either an incompatibility, or the keyboard needs more power - did you try it when unplugging the other usb devices ? Or with a powered hub ? What PSU do you have ?

@BuZz sorry, im new at this. i have a pi 0 1.3, just installed the latest pi image, 3.8.1, i have the usb hub soldered to the pi 0, the hub gets power, as it powers up everything, i was able to input the controller buttons, i was able to detect wifi signals, but it wont load the keyboard at all. no power, nothing. keyboard is new, and works on the pc. ive tried unplugging everything and just putting the keyboard in, and still nothing, i've got it connected via 5V micro usb charger

I would try another keyboard out, but it's worth a) switching PSU and USB power cable and b) trying a powered usb hub

So I have similar specs, and have been following this site https://howchoo.com/g/mti0oge5nzk/pi-cart-a-raspberry-pi-retro-gaming-rig-in-an-nes-cartridge and was directed to come here when they couldn't figure out the same issue @skrapps914 is having.

Plug in all USB devices first, then power, USB Hub light comes on, which also had worked when on desktop. Decided to directly connect keyboard and/or gamepad without HUB so was directly to the USB to mini USB to Pi 0. Still nothing showing in Emulation Station. Had to directly disconnect the power and reconnect and start over, still no dice. Went from a 2.0 Amp to a 2.5 Amp, no difference.
