Any guidance on Skraper?
-
Hi everybody,
I've been scraping my roms with Stephen Selphs scraper, Skyscraper and the internal one and getting some very good but also some bad results on certain systems. Commodore 64 and Amiga come to mind for not getting many useful results. I've recently found Skraper on Screenscraper.fr but have been unable to get it to work or find any good tutorials online. Does any of you know where to find more info or maybe explain yourself how to use it? Any help would very much be appreciated! -
@apekop123 Skraper is rather simple to use. It has a wizard where you choose what system you want to scrape (choose RetroPie or Emulationstation), point to the parent ROMs folder (
\\retropie\roms
) and then just hit start to scrape.
You can additionally add new systems for scraping, each system inspects the corresponding sub-folder under the ROMs folder you configured to find the ROMs: adding NES will look in thenes
folder, addingSega Genesis
will look under thegenesis
folder, etc.You can experiment with a local folder under which you can add sub-folder for the your ROMS, then scrape to see what images/videos you get and maybe choose between the different Mixes (image types) available.

Thanks Mitu.
I've installed it under Windows 7 under Parallels on my Mac but I've not been able to point it towards my Raspberry. I'd love to install it directly on the Raspberry but I don't have the faintest clue how to that :( and have been unable to find any help on that. -

That's not going to work. Just use a test ROM folder on your PC - transfer it from your Pi - and try to point Skraper at that folder, it's not that hard.

@mitu After you telling me that it is possible to make a test folder I figured it out after a few tries. I had to make a roms folder with inside it, in my case, a c64 folder with the roms inside. just a c64 or just a roms folder doesn't work.
I'm loving this scraper already. It found way more matches than the other scrapers. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! -
@mitu mitu you know how to use local data in retropie sd to scrape it? I mean, that skraper check if art or video is already downloaded before trying to download it from internet.

@carcayu I don't know if it supports something like this.
