Partitions in the SD

When I try to install the image in the SD, at the end of the process, two partitions are created, apart from having 12 gigs unassigned. Is it a card problem or something? The SD card is a 16 GB Sandisk cat. 10

No, that's normal. The 1st partition is a boot partition and the 2nd one is a Linux partition. On the 1st boot, the 2nd partition will be resized to fit the rest of the free space - up to 16 Gb.
