hey @herb_fargus , I was about to make a small edition on the RetroAchievements wiki page and noticed that it's now restricted.

Not sure if it's a permanent decision. If yes, what's the current way to contribute with the docs?

It's probably because of this topic. I thought only that specific page was locked, but I got the same error while trying to modify the PS1 page, a couple of days back.
@buzz - could it be that the whole wiki is restricted now for editing ?

That appears to be the case. I was just about to start writing an article for the new Sharp X1 core that was merged a couple days ago, and noticed the "New Page" button wasn't there anymore. I'm guessing/hoping this is only gonna be restricted until the topic Mitu linked is resolved.

I have re-enabled public editing - github wiki is quite limited. Wish it had more control or some system for edits to be reviewed. At some point I might consider another wiki platform that we can self host.

I understand there is a collaborators Wiki access policy, maybe this is a good choice?
              See: https://help.github.com/articles/changing-access-permissions-for-wikis/

Only repository collaborators can edit a public repository's wiki by default, but you can give anyone with a GitHub account edit permissions.

You can check (and add) the collaborators in Settings -> Collaborators.

              Edit:
I'm sure you already knew about this feature, but maybe users could apply to be collaborators here in the forum and therefore you would have control on who can edit and revoke access if necessary.

@hhromic the problem is there isn't fine grained enough control for allowing edits to the wiki but not to the setup script repository. We'd have to create a separate repo for the wiki alone

Aah you are right, sorry I just realised that I confused the GitHub concepts of collaborator with contributor in my head. Indeed the access control is very limited.
