#100+1 problem with Controller settings
-
[..]
Built From:Retropie version 4.3, no image was used
Are you sure this is the RetroPie version you use ? Support for the 3B+ has been added only to the 4.4 image, so if you start with a 4.3 clean image you can't be running this on a Raspberry PI 3B+ model.
Guide used: Just flashed the image then with WINSCP copied the emulators
Which emulators are you copying via WinSCP ? You mean ROMs ?
After setting up the Dragonrise joysticks at first boot after i flashed the retropie image the player 1 and player 2 buttons got messed up. they are working for the first game then after sudo reboot the mapping collapses. Other problem is taht now it does not let me to configure the joysticks. After clicking on configure input it recognises the dragonrise joysticks but it stays grey although i am pressing the button to configure
Are the joysticks mapped identically ? Since they're the same model/vendor, you only need to map one and the mapping will propagate to the other one.
Other problem is that I want the SNES controllers to be the primary > joysticks for SNES emulator but for arcade i want the Dragonrise
You can do that with the Joystick selection tool - https://github.com/meleu/RetroPie-joystick-selection.

@mitu Hi There,
You are right i correct it in the description. It is a simple 3 B version not a +, aliexpress label tricket me.
Yes, i did not copy any emulators just the ROMS.
I dont understand this mapping, do you mean if i only set up player 1 then player 2 layout will automatically be the same?
i will try this joystick selection tool tonight and get back to you
thanks

Yes.
You can test this by resetting the controller mappings - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/EmulationStation/#es_systemscfg-edits - then only map the 1st joystick. Start a 2 player game (NES for instance) and you'll notice - at the beginning - a yellow text message at the bottom left part of the screen which indicate how many controllers are detected and auto-configured. If it's 2 controllers, then the mapping you configured for the 1st controller are applied to the 2nd one as well. You can further test the 2nd controller with a 2 player game and check the buttons to see if they're identical. -
@mitu do you mean this by resetting Retropie Setup Script >> Manage Packages >> Manage Core Packages >> EmulationStation >> Configuration / Options >> Clear / Reset EmulationStation Input Configuration
-
@zhajdu done
-
Now this is happening that the joysticks are found but despite i am pressing the buttons the label stays grey and it does not let me configure the input. It does not forward me to the configuration screen but it realises that i am pressing the button:(
update: i can only configure the usb keyboard. its label is black and it forwards me to the configuration...God i am so f...ked
-
@zhajdu Can you try with just 1 controller/joypad connected to see if you get past the configuration screen ? How did you configure it before ?
-
@mitu Thanks for keeping the spirit in me! So what i did now is i switched memory card in the PI and on the other PI i have a previously set up image and in that retropie i can configure the inputs. Maybe on the other one somehow the input cfgs got corrupted? but in that case as you advised resetting the cfgs should have solved this.
-
@mitu Its done, you were right. i configured one of the dragonrise joysticks then restarted the system and know both dragonrise joysticks are working. (its very strange) anyway this does not solve my problem i think

Which problem is that ? You said the controllers are working now.
-
@mitu Hi There! Now the current status is that the controllers might be working although i have not tryed this page yet https://github.com/meleu/RetroPie-joystick-selection/blob/master/README.md
BUT now my layout is set and i cannot insert coin in the MAM4ALL emulator games for example cadillacs and dinasours. which button should drop in the coin? when 1 month ago it was working it was the select buttonwhat cfg files should i copy paste here so you could review?
-
@zhajdu AFAIK key bindings in Mame4ALL are set from the emulator by hitting TAB (https://retropie.org.uk/docs/MAME/#mame4all-pi), do that to change the settings. Also, the config file is not readable (i.e not text), so there's no text file you could paste here. Grab a keyboard, press TAB while in-game and configure your settings there.
-
update!! if i use not the MAM4all but the MAME liberto emulator i can insert coin.... WTF?
-
@mitu You are the Man! Thanks now it is good in mame4all too
-
OMG the link you sent is also working now i can priorize my joysticks!!!! you are the best
-
@mitu i dont want to start a new thread for this because you know everything. So if i am playing an arcade game with fba the sound is lagging and the game laggs also sometime, do you know what to do?

Get a better PI ? For Pi1/0 models,
pifba
might be more appropriate for your hardware. What game are you playing ? -
@mitu thi is Pi3+ (thats why i cant overclock in raspi config according to a blog) should i overclock? i am trying to play metal slug in play station emulator and also the rohga armor gorce is lagging in the fbalphacore
-
@zhajdu Overclocking did not solve anything. the sound is the same, lagging
-
I'd say that's about right, the game was also lagging on the original hardware. The FB Alpha core has an overclock hack - look in the core options and see if overclocking from the core settings helps.
