You should try reporting your questions to the main Skyscraper topic in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/11826/.
-
@mitu Thanks, I thought that it gets lost there. But will do.
-
@annomatik @muldjord (Skyscraper's author) is pretty active on that topic, why would it get lost ?
-
Well, for me it's easier to follow one topic in one thread :-) The main Skyscraper topic is full of different topics.
Also, apparently, I'm only allowed to write something every 2 minutes? I seem to be too fast for this forum. :-)

I haven't stumbled upon this feature, but I for one welcome it !

What source of scraping are you using ?
I tested some of your NES titles and some of them work if you're using TheGamesDB - because it searches by name only. But some of the names are awkward - Castlevania 2 is in fact Castlevania II or StarTropics 1 is StarTropics the ones that have 2P at the end are not going to be recognized, some of them will work if you lower the 'Match percentage' (i.e. the Banana Prince for instance I had to use-m 30
to be found). If you're using ScreenScraper as source, I think you can use the hash to search the ROM - are you using standard (i.e. No-Intro or ToSec) ROMs ?You can check the game on ScreenScraper to see what names/ROM names/Hashes are associates with it. For instance, you could see what ROM names are linked to S.C.A.T. .

Well, yes, that's my "special" naming and that's why I prefer using the file-names as oposed the scraped-names (=Skyscraper setting). I like the "unified look" of a first part of a game having "1" and the second part of a game having a "2" -- this usually also improves sorting of games, Part 1 comes first, Part 2 comes second, etc.. Also, it usually helps to know at one glance, if a game is supporting multiplayer, that's why I'm adding the "2P" or the "4P" at the end of a game.
Interestingly enough, for some games, this doesn't seem to matter, for others it does.
Which brings me to my other question... How do I start an update? with "skyscraper -p nes", will it use all the scrapers? Or what happens there? Do I need to set some sort of aliases somewhere to keep my file-naming convention?

@annomatik Have you read the Skyscraper documentation ?

I skipped through it :-) Didn't fully understand it, to be honest.
