using dual analogue sticks on a controller on mame2010 [Solved]
-
Hi All, i am currently trying to set up some 'Twin stick' games using the twin analogue stick on my controller, This is relatively easy to do in Mame 2003 as i can use the retroarch menu to mirror the DPad onto the left stick and there is also a built in option to mirror the right stick to the buttons.
This (for the most part) means just set up your DPad and buttons, make sure those to options are on and away you go!
However there are a small handful of twin stick games that only run on Mame2010 and for the life of me i can't find an option to mirror the right stick to buttons, does anybody know if this option exists in Mame2010,
Alternatively if there is a different way i could be doing this, any suggestions would be great.
At the moment i can play these games in Mame2010 but only using the DPad and buttons and it can be a pain in the backside to hit the diagonals when having to hit 2 separate buttons to do it!!
Thanks in Advance

OK so after literally half an hour of extra mucking round with this, I discovered i was being stupid!
I had been looking for a way to automatically map the joystick to the face buttons, (which doesn't appear to exist) but there is a way to manually map the controls,
If anybody is trying to do this themselves its actually relatively simple,
I already have my controls set up to map the left stick to the DPad
I have my face buttons mapped the same as the face buttons on an Xbox 360 controller
So
Y
XB
Athese then translate into mame as buttons
4
32
1I then used the controls section of the retroarch menu to mapp
Auto +2 - Button 1
Auto -2 - Button 4
Auto +3 - Button 3
Auto -3 - Button 2It only seemed to work properly when i used the AUTO ones, I have now saved this as a core remap file so all games that use Mame2010 will map the left stick to the Dpad and the Right stick to the face buttons.
the only other thing i had to do was to set up the controls within mame itself (no idea why but it just didn't seem to auto map the controls but that is really quite easy anyway
Hope this helps others
