Problem with using LCD screen with RetroPie
-
Hey guys, noobie here.
So I'm trying to change the video output of a raspberry pi 3b from hdmi to the pins to work with an lcd screen. The only problem with this is that when I go to change fb0 to fb1 to change the video output, I get an error. In order to change fb0 to fb1, I try to use
sudo nano /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/99-fbturbo.conf
but the directory /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d does not exist with RetroPie. Can anybody give me a tutorial on how to get around this or just give me the entire directions on how to change the video output to this LCD screen? -

I don't have an LCD screen and all I could find about this is quite old (2 years and more), but maybe it will still work. At least back then, the third party tool
fbcp
(frame buffer copy) would copy the hardware accelerated output of fb0 to the non-accelerated fb1. See these links on how to install and runfbcp
from the console or alternatively on system startup:- https://retropie.org.uk/forum/post/50202
- https://github.com/notro/fbtft/wiki/Framebuffer-use (section "Framebuffer mirroring")
As a quick test confirmed,
fbcp
still compiles and installs on RetroPie 4.4. Without an LCD I couldn't test its functionality, though.@mitu or other experienced users may correct me if this is outdated, please.
