(Only) preview videos ahve inverted colors

I finally tried using preview videos with retropie emulationstation.
After updating retropie (new install with image v4.4), I've updeted the retropie setup script and then ran the update command (for all packages and linux kernal stuff).

Now my ploblem: all preview videos seem to have inverted colors. Everything else is displaying fine and even the same videos (with inverted colors) play perfectly fine if they are ran in the screensaver, no inverted colors.
This problem seems to be with the preview video player and not anything else. I have tried changing the HDMI settings in config.txt and this does nothing. I think that the videoplayer used for the preview videos is displaying in YCbCr instead of RGB.
Does anyone know where to tweak the settings of this video player?

Power Supply used: JBL 5V 2.5A
RetroPie Version Used: 4.4 linux stretch
Built From: Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website v4.4 – released April 14, 2018.
USB Devices connected: Keyboard
Controller used: none

Are you using the accelerated video player (omxplayer) settings in Emulationstation or the default non-accelerated, based on libvlc) ? There have been a couple of similar reports this week, but none of the reporters followed up to my inquiries.

I was using the default player.
By turning on the hardware accelerated omx player, the issue is fixed.

@Daan675 Can you upload one of the faulty videos somewhere so we can take a look at it and see why it doesn't work correctly ? (dropbox, google drive, etc.)

I'm having a similar if not the same problem I just haven't been able to play around with it to post a detailed issue. Hopefully in the next day or two I can do some investigating. I did notice it's all the preview videos that don't display the correct colors. I can play the same videos on my Windows laptop and they're fine. I want to take the time to flash a new card but not update ES, etc and see if I can recreate the problem that way.

@mitu The problem affects all my preview videos. I got these with a combination of emumovies sync mp4 videos and skyscraper standard config + videos.

@Daan675 Thank you for the follow up. I managed to reproduce the error and have a video file to test, lets see how we can fix this.

I also have this problem, OMX is activated without it helping...
