      did a fresh wipe of retropie and i can seem to find a file when i would install it would show how many people can play a game. anybody now this file

        Metadata (which includes number of players) is stored in the gamelist.xml file that is situated in /.emulationstation/gamelists/SYSTEM/ - there will be a separate gamelist.xml for each system.

        While you could generate a gamelist.xml file manually the preferred method would be to use a scraper (https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/scraper) there are both the in built one and many others.
