Doom music isn't working.
-
Hello, fellow retropie users. I put together a retropie for my nephews for Christmas. Everything is perfect with it except one thing. I installed prdoom and doom isn't outputting any music. I copied all the files in the same folder where the doom1.wad is located yet the music isn't playing in game. I even cleared all the ID3 tag information for each of the MP3s. I followed this guide thoroughly https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Doom/ yet the music isn't playing. Please help.

@Nikorasu081 The music files are probably not named properly. Can you post the contents of your /ports/doom/ folder?
Edit: I just checked the wiki page and the mp3 names are a little misleading there. It should appear like this for example:
e2m7.mp3
e3m1.mp3
etc. -

@Nikorasu081 get rid of the mus_ on each mp3 and they should work.
-
@quicksilver WTF. I was just following guide like any other person would do. It's unethical for the creator of the guide to give out false information and waste peoples time. Thank you.

@Nikorasu081 The wiki is community maintained. It was probably a mistake. Im not sure ethics has anything to do with it. I just updated the wiki for future users. Glad its working for you now though.
-
@Nikorasu081 if you use zdoom you dont need music files. They have different channels for the different music.
-
@quicksilver It's not a wiki though. The URL isn't even under the wikia name.

@edmaul69 I got both Doom 1 and 2 playing music. It was difficult to search for the required files though. At first I thought I would extract the .mus from the wad and convert to .mp3. But I found a even better sounding replacement that was in .ogg and I converted to .mp3

@Nikorasu081 it is a community maintained resource so call it what you will.
-
@quicksilver No need to be a smarta**.

@Nikorasu081 you shouldn't read tone into a text message as it can lead to misunderstanding. You stated that it wasn't a wiki and I was just clarifying what the documents were and where they came from.
