Rom's Won't Load
-
When I add a rom to there folder, the game loads and, they appear in the right section, but when I click on one It goes to the loading card, and returns to the game select, I have a raspberry pi 3 B+ and I'm using retro pie 4.4
-
@Yui Please add more information about your setup, as requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first. What kind of ROMS (which console) ?
-
Pi Model or other hardware: B+
Power Supply used: Canakit 2.5A Power Supply For Raspberry Pi
RetroPie Version Used 4.4
Built From: Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website
USB Devices connected: Xbox One Controller
Controller used: Xbox One
Error messages received: None
Log found in /dev/shm/runcommand.log (if relevant): None
Guide used: I followed the guide given at the download page
File: I'm unsure were the issue is so here is the files to get to roms: \retropie\roms
Emulator: Mupen 64 Plus - Auto (N64), Ir - Fceumm (nes)
Attachment of config files: I Do not Understand
How to replicate the problem: I can replicate by trying to load any romI've tried to use nes and n64 roms and neither work, I have gotten the roms from many different websites, and the roms that I've tried are, Super Mario Bros (Nes)
Super Smash Bros (N64) Legend of zelda (Nes) Mega Man (Nes)
Also I've tried clearing and re downloading retro pie and got the same issue 3 times. -
This sounds like bad ROMs. So you copied them into their corresponding folders (
nes
,n64
), launched them, but you're back at the game selection screen afterwards. Normally, an error would be logged in the log file (/dev/shm/runcommand.log
) after this launch.
Get that log file and then upload its contents at pastebin.com, so we can look for errors there. -
where can I find them?
-
ok so I found it, and it says
Parameters:
Executing: /opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/ -L /opt/retropie/Libretrocores/
Ir-fcumm/fceumm_libretro.so --config /opt/retropie/configs/nes/retroarch.cfg "/home
/pi/RetroPie/roms/nes/Legend of Zelda.nes" --appendconfig /dev/shm/retroarch.cfgI have no idea what any of this means tho
-
@Yui Well, that's the command line used to start the emulator for the ROM in question. Can you try enabling verbose logging from the Runcommand launch menu and re-open the log file ? It should have more content, if you can post the output to pastebin.com we might have an indication of the error.
-
I dont know what you mean by post it to paste bin, do you want me to type out everything including the info, just the errors, Also I've never used it so I don't know how it works
-
@Yui Use WinScp to transfer the file to your PC, open it up in Notepad, then copy and paste the content on pastebin.com. Copy the URL where the content is and add here in the post.
Or just try getting another ROM, my bet is still that the ROM is not correct.
-
ok I'll Try another rom and Because I can't find the files on my computer, and get back to you.
-
I had the same issue so I'll try to get you the error
-
-
@Yui nes rom is missing headers. i.e. bad rom source
-
so do i find a new rom?
-
@Yui bingo. No intro roms are generally proper formats. Obviously due to forum rules acquiring content for retropie lies on the end user. Good luck

@Yui said in Rom's Won't Load:

-
Using the correct romset in the correct emulator?
