      Hi Guys,

This is my first time playing with retropie so please be gentle..lol

I bought a pi 3 b+ and a Picade console. Ive got it all up and running when using an 8gb Sandisk usb stick and when switching out the 8gb usb for a 32gb Sandisk usb stick no problems. Retropie loads up and runs the games emulator and I've played several sega genesis and megadrive games.

I then purchased a Samsung Evoplus 256 gb microsd card and an Anker micro sd reader usb stick. The Pi won't boot from the micro sd card and if I try to use the micro sd card as just storage the system hangs and wont load. If I take the micro sd card out of the equation the system boots and runs fine on either of the Sandisk usb sticks.

So my question is can I boot from the Samsumg 256gb micro sd card and if so how?
If i cant boot from the sd card can I use it as storage and if so how?

I'm running Model 3b+ PI with 2.5a external power supply purchased with the PICADE console.

any advice you can offer would be appreciated.

      Thanks in advance

@Waylander121 can you post a link to your microsd card reader? How long have you had it? Can you verify that it can read sdxc cards?

@Waylander121 might possibly be because it's a multi card reader. Do you have a simple one card reader that you could test with?

@quicksilver unfortunately I don't. I could buy one if you think that would help.

@Waylander121 will the pi boot directly from the SD card? (not using the card reader)
