I've been having a lot of issues running Retropie on my Raspberry Pi Zero. Lots of freezing / Unhandled Faults.

After numerous attempts at formatting with fresh installs, upgrading the power adapter, and getting a completely new RPi, all with the same results... I'm thinking maybe my problems stem from the memory card. Currently I'm using a Sandisk Ultra Micro SD HC 16gb. Could this be the issue? Would a higher quality memory card, such as the Sandisk Extreme or the Samsung Evo Plus be better for Retropie with the RPi0?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

@garradam it's possible you have a faulty and/or a poor quality card. A new higher quality card could possibly solve the problem. Are you overclocked? Do you safely shutdown your pi or do you just kill the power? Also you stated you upgraded the power supply, which are you using currently?

I have been having to kill the power due to Retropie freezing. I have been worried that the sudden power loss might be damaging the memory cards as well, but the freezing and errors started at the get-go. I've switched to an official Raspberry Pi power supply, 5.1VDC 2.5A, which should be more than efficient to power the Zero with a USB controller.

I am not overclocked. I've been reading that overclocking the RPi0 is not advised.

I will upgrade to a higher quality card with a fresh install and see if the issues are consistent.

@garradam not safely shutting down can potentially cause corruption of your sd card. If your pi freezes you should remotely access your pi through ssh and safely shutdown that way. Often times it's only emulation station that isnt responding. There are a number of easy to use ssh apps for smartphones that are very convenient to use.
