Weird splash screen issue

I originally uploaded two splash screens which worked fine, and then a third which also worked fine but I found it bright. So I deleted, changed and put a new version of that third one into the splash screen folder and found that it didn’t work. I tried using the one that originally worked and found that it stopped working. I also deleted all the splash screens and redownloaded them, only to find that one of the first two stopped working. They alsways give the message “name.png loading failed”. I have no idea what’s wrong or what to do about it?
