USB rom service
-
Is there a way to re-force/overwrite the rom copy? Mine appears to have not copied everything. Thanks!
-
@gt4chuck You just need to navigate to the required roms folder using WINSCP or similar then drag and drop roms if your Pi is on a network. If not, it can be done manually using the information here:
https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Transferring-Roms -
@rbaker thanks! I can definitely do that. Wasn't sure exactly how the copy service worked.
-
also unplugging and plugging the usb stick back in should continue.
You don't give any details to advise further - https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first - eg there was an issue with an older retropie usbromservice which was resolved, so I don't know if you are seeing that problem or it is something else.
the file
/var/log/syslog
should contain some details also. -
@BuZz yeah I tried that, it seems to have copied the list but not the full contents. I'll FTP in and fix it manually!
-
It would be useful for me to know what version of retropie you are using - so I can rule out any new issue etc (and to see the last 100 lines of /var/log/syslog after copying)

If you want to have a better overview on the copy process you can copy the roms on your pi trough your network. I always used this method, it's the fastest. Just turn on your pi, and on your desktop go to windows explorer and type \RETROPIE\ hit enter. There should be a folder named roms. Copy the roms into the folders and you're ready to play.
For some reason uploading them trough FTP takes always so long, between 300kb per sec while trough windows explorer it uploads them with a speed of 4.5mb per seconds. I hope this helps, happy gaming!

I'm on OSX, is there a guide for that?
-
Did you check the documention ? https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Transferring-Roms (if on OSX I would use sftp, due to some recent issues with samba)
-
got it covered, thanks! now i just have to figure out why my sfiii isn't working in the new install. sigh. :) EDIT - bad copy, that's fixed, at least!
one of these days it'll all work!
