How to get custom Buttons/Dpads and connect them to the GPIO
-
I am currently planning to build a Retropie powered Gameboy (5 inch, controls on the left and right).
I used Retropie before and got everything working, but back then I used Arcade cabinet sticks with USB encoders that were plugged in with the normal USB cable. But what I want is to rather have a custom layout where I can place buttons where I want and connect them in some way. Since I didnt found any third party buttons (only microswitches) or dpads on amazon/ebay etc I have 2 questions:
- Can I connect normal buttons (ones that just close a circuit) to the GPIO pins and have Retropie recognize them?
- Where would I get those buttons from?
Thanks in advance
