Crashing after updating Setup Script
-
@goobatroopa Can you try Mario64 using a different emulator like lr-mupen64plus or one of the other graphics plugins? Might help narrow down the issue. Also perhaps check the runcommand menu to make sure you didnt accidentally select an unsupported video mode.
-
@quicksilver how do I change the emulator if I can't access the menu when the game launches?
-
More info, I get a random white dot appear in the top left hand corner just before it crashes. Thought this might be under voltage but checked on official power supply, still the same.
On other games, it gets to the runcommand menu, won't allow access to it then switches to a blank screen and it hangs.
-
Ok managed to change it on a different rom. Set to lr-mupen64plus and I'll test for quality.
-
@goobatroopa Hm, I get this behavior whenever I start Emulationstation via SSH remotely - the runcommand menu shows on the remote session instead of popping up on the monitor/TV. I'm sure this is not your problem, but maybe it's something related to runcommand being fussy.
Do you have another sdcard you can try an default 4.4 image, then update and try to see if you get the same thing ?
-
@goobatroopa now my save game has disappeared. How very odd indeed.
-
@goobatroopa Smells like a SD card going bad.
-
@mitu I was afraid you were going to say that. Think I'll try a fresh image and see if I get the same with a different card. I'll keep you updated but most likely sometime later this week. Thanks for your help so far.
-
@mitu I have checked all my N64 games, all save data lost. Checked on other systems, all save data intact.
-
As all my other saves appear to be ok, could it be that the save is in the mupen64plus folder and not the lr-mupen64plus location and it's not being found because I've changed the emulator, or is that not a thing?
-
@goobatroopa standalone mupen64plus saves are not in the ROMs directory by default. I believe they are in a hidden folder. I'll have to check next time I'm near my pi.
-
@quicksilver yeah that is my thought. So with that in mind, if I change the emulator, will it not be able to read my save game if it's in the old emulator folder?
-
@goobatroopa I don't think the saves are compatible between the standalone and the libretro core.
-
@mitu ah. In that case, I don't think I have a SD card issue. Which would make sense as to why nothing else is lost.
-
@goobatroopa said in Crashing after updating Setup Script:
In that case, I don't think I have a SD card issue
If the files you 'lost' weren't there in the first place, then probably yes.
-
@goobatroopa there is a .sra to .srm convertor tool I have used with good results if you want to convert standalone mupen64plus saves to libretro mupen64plus saves.
-
@quicksilver that would be great, thanks.

I think the .sra saves are in ./local/mupen64plus/saves

@quicksilver really appreciate that, thank you very much.
