Ideas for Youtube Instructional Videos
-
Hey Everyone,
I have been working on RetroPie builds for both Raspberry Pi and Odroid XU4. I have done many configurations and setups, and have taken the time to create manuals, etc.
I realized that sometimes reading instructions on a forum or article is harder than just watching a quick video for an answer. I want to start a Youtube channel where I will demonstrate how to accomplish something or a configuration in RetroPie for others. My first video will be on how to use Skraper.net to scrape game data.
I plan on making the videos simple and to-the-point. I don't want the videos to start with "Hey Guys! Like and Subscribe to my channel, blah, blah, blah..." I just want to get into the solution and provide a simple answer. I am looking for ideas for videos you would like to see solutions for. I know there are lots of videos out there on how to do things from start to finish, but I find many are bloated, run too long, or just cover too much when you want a specific answer. I want my videos to be very short but provide the direct answer.

@lordcrammy thanks for the initiative :)
But wouldn't time be better invested on improving/updating the written documentation instead? :)
For instance, videos tend to get outdated pretty fast and are not searchable. Many times instructions require to copy/paste snippets of code or configuration. All of this is much more useful in written. -
@hhromic yes and no. Like the link you provided, the documentation is plentiful. Sometimes I find documentation can be too verbose or sometimes it's nice to watch a video. If I can't find a solution to something here, or I am on my phone and want to see what other people have done, I will search youtube to see if anyone has accomplished what I need to do.
I recently discovered Skraper.net and I couldn't find anything anywhere on how to use it, so I downloaded it and learned how to use it. I ran into some problems with it and that's when I figured other people would benefit from what I found. A video would be easy for me to make as opposed to typing out lots of instructions. Lots of people update documentation, but not as many people create videos, so that's why I thought to ask others for ideas of what they would be interested in seeing.

That's pretty much why I focused on the wiki instead of videos. My channel became very outdated very fast.
There are some people that learn better with a video though. Depending on the topic I am one of them

There are some good instructional vids out there. Unfortunately some of the most popular ones are not always too accurate. Need someone who is clued up to make more.. eh @herb_fargus ;-)
