Hello, I recently made a homemade arcade machine using a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B, running RetroPie 3.8 built from an SD image. In the testing phase when I was using my living room TV, the resolution for everything was automatically set to the right size. However, when I transferred the Pi to the TV I have dedicated to the arcade machine, black bars appeared at the top of the screen and the display became very low quality. When I restarted RetroPie via the command "sudo reboot", the resolution corrected itself and the display fit perfectly on the TV. I then cut the power to the Pi and the TV, and put the power back on. The Pi booted up in the same weird resolution it was the first time. I then rebooted the Pi, without cutting the power, and the display corrected itself. So basically, whenever I boot up the Pi after cutting power, the resolution changes, and when I reboot it with commands or the EmulationStation menu, the display goes back to normal. Also, this problem is not only within the EmulationStation menu, as the black bars appear when I launch roms such as Street Fighter II, and when I reboot with commands these black bars disappear. Note that I have both the Pi and the TV power sources hooked up to the same switch, so they both get power simultaneously. After the TV and Pi get power, I turn on the TV with a remote. I don't know if this is related to the issue, but more information can't hurt. This is really annoying to deal with, any ideas on how to fix this?

How was it connected to the TV? I take it it was through HDMI?
How was it connected to the monitor? HDMI as well?

Except for some rare overscan issues HDMI is usually plug and play.
