XIN-MO Controller not working right - moving too quick
-
Hi, I had a previous Retropie installation and it worked fine. I burned an image of the setup for use again. (I think I am using Retropie version around 3.0 (Raspbery Pi 2).
I bought the same as I had used previously (pi2) but the controller interface board is different. I am now using a XIN-MO controller. I can get it working but have the following issues:
- When in the RetroArch menu if I use the joystick it will jump 3-4 menu places for each move left or right (I think I am getting multiple fast inputs)
- In games I can use buttons correctly but when I use the joystick the characters seem to move jumpy (move one space, stop, move one space, stop, etc.)
I did try to re-setup the controller in the retropie configuration menu but when asked to move the joystick in the down direction it registers and flashes up the next few inputs and registers them also.
Basically I think when moving the joystick if is providing multiple fast inputs and causing the issues (keyboard works perfectly)
Has anyone had this before and if so how did you resolve it.
Thanks for the help guys.

If this is true, then there's little that can be done on the RetroPie side - it's a hardware issue. You can test how your gamepads/joystick are registering the inputs with
jstest
. Exit Emulationstation and execute from the command line:jstest /dev/input/js0
and then start pressing buttons/move joystick to see how they're registered.
It would also be helpful to specify which version of RetroPie you're using - add the questions for info asked in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

Would it help if I used an new version of Retropie or is the issue simply the XIN-MO controller?
Thanks

@RetroPieVin You should definitely use a current version - 4.4 - (and not 3.0) and test as I indicated before if the controllers works ok.

Guys, I have been away from this for a while not but I did upgrade the Retropi version and the issue has remained.
Any I looking at a new encoder?
