      Hi,
I'm having a few issues playing some games with the Plus 4 emulator. I'm playing games like Kikstart etc., I'm having video and audio lag when playing C16 and Plus/4 games. My father said when he was a kid Kikstart ran very smoothly while I'm getting rough running. I've tinkered around with the video options but still nothing. By the way, I'm running Retropie 4.4 and my TV is running 720p and 16:9.
If anyone has advice or a fix to this problem, that would be greatly appreciated!

      Cheers

        Try this:

Launch a game .. then press F12 for setup and go to Machine settings.

Scroll down and change SID setup to SID (fast) and then save the settings.

That should get the audio back to normal as well as gameplay.

There are two c64 emulators, lr-vice found under experimental packages and vice found under optional packages.

Using lr-vice possibly will be easier to configure settings in RetroArch and then you could apply those settings manually to the other vice configuration.

@dmmarti Hi, I'm having a bit of bother trying the method you handed me. I press F12 when the is loading and after the game has launched, but I'm not getting any settings.
            Cheers

What I described above is for when you're using the stand alone Vice emulator.

As @Efriim said...there are two emulators in RetroPie you could use. If you're using the Retroarch core, I'm not sure about F12's usage.

But if you're using the stand alone Vice, after you launch a game and you're playing it (with sound stuttering), pressing F12 should bring up Vice's GUI menu.

                @Efriim Hi,
Cheers for the recommendations unfortunately C16 games won't work with other Commodore emulators expect the plus 4 emulator. Thank you for your help,

@commodore_nerd Are you using the vice or the lr-vice emulator to start the game ? The F12 (open menu) is only available in the vice emulator.

@mitu Hi, I'm using Vice with the Plus 4 emulator. I keep on pressing F12 when loading and in the game!

keyboard F12, or controller L3, or controller R2.
This keyboard thing might need a different keyboard layout,
There is a long list of layouts to use in
raspi-config >> Localisation Options >> Change Keyboard Layout
though I don't know if it requires a reset, I use a Logitech K350 Internet Keyboard.

Sorry didn't know lr-vice did not have Plus4, I would have thought it did.
doesn't have very many options either.
