@Bearq07 you can actually press any button to bring up that menu. Press a button, means press any button (although I thought "a" button at first too). When the runcommand prompt pops up the best thing to do is repeatedly tap a button until it accepts your input. If you press just once you may miss your window of opportunity.

I know someone here updated the script to make it more responsive (at least with spash-screens)
        thanks whomever that was.

You are on retropie version 4.4.11 but have you updated EmulationStation, and more importantly the runcommand script? Manage Packages >> Update Core Packages

If it is non-updated, then you really have to wait to the last second to press the button. As soon as the pop-up dialog 'disappears', by reiterating the 'a' button consecutively.

          Thankyou all,
This hasnt worked though. I have updated ALL packages and emulationstation in itself has no issues. I just can’t open that menu.
To let you know I do have menu art on, but when I disable it, it still doesn’t work.

@Bearq07 Did you try to press the A button just as the art disappears ?

@Bearq07 If you have the launch images enabled, try waiting after the launch image is shown and press the button.
