      ok i am new at this linux stuff i was installing retropie from the command line and got an error so i started over just typing away not paying attention a look up and it had initiated and i had put one of the command lines in the login and password!!! so now when i boot up my pi raspbian opens, then the command line comes up because it is trying to open retropie and asking for login and password and i don't know it, i tried pi,raspberry but it didn't work please help

        If you didn't change the password for the pi user, the password should be raspberry. You'll have to enter the pi username for the Login and then raspberry for the password.

            @crittejd since you're just starting, then I would re-install. If you're using a PI, then I suggest you use the RetroPie provided images instead of installing on top of Raspbian. The RetroPie image is just a Raspbian Lite image with RetroPie pre-installed.
