Hello all ... newbie here trying to get the latest version of Advanced MAME working for vector games...

I gutted one of my arcade1ups and put in a Retropie set up and an arcade1up Street Fighter control panel. MAME is working fine using lr-mame2003... control buttons A-B-X-Y-start-select-hotkey all work fine.

However, I also installed advmame as I wanted it for vector game performance. Grabbed the 106 ROMs for these cases. For those games, my buttons connected to my USB controller are not working. The game starts, but what I had programmed for A-B-X-Y-start-select-hotkey (I guess Advanced MAME doesn't use a hotkey?) does not work.

I've tried to 'tab' via keyboard into a particular game's setting but the buttons still don't register. I think I read somewhere advmame doesn't use retroarch (I think) so my lr-mame2003 settings won't apply. Maybe some manual configuration file edits are necessary... but I just don't know what.

      TIA for any help!

You normally configure advmame using the keyboard - by assigning your inputs through the configuration menu (press TAB on you keyboard to bring up the menu).
Having said that mame2003 supports also vector games - take a look at the options available in the Retroarch core options and try a vector game.

          Thank you for the reply.

My issue turned out to be very simple in the end. When programming the buttons as you mention, I actually just wasn't holding them down long enough for them to register. Ugh... Oh well ;-) Thank you again for the support. Learning as I go...
