Atari 5200 Auto-run Games

I've been trying unsuccessfully to configure the lr-atari800 emulator to auto-run Atari 5200 games. As described in many other posts by people having the same problem whenever I select a game to run it always defaults to the Atari Memo Pad screen. Hitting F1 and making changes to the system type will start the game but as soon as I exit and start it again it's right back to the Memo Pad.
I've followed a few tutorials I've found on the web but they all seem to say something different and so far none of them have worked.
Does anyone have a good link on how to do this or can guide me in the right direction?
This is from a fresh 4.4 install and all BIOS files are located in the BIOS directory.

If you set the machine type to
5200in the Core Options in the RGUI (Hotkey + X), this setting should be automatically saved and the next time you start a ROM it will start with that system type.
The instructions for using F1 and configure the emulator should not be necessary of your BIOS file (5200.rom) was copied when first started the emulator, but if you didn't have the file available at the time, then you need to re-configure the emulator's BIOS files through that menu.
