      I got Super Game Boy "folder" but cant get lr-mgba to save settings, I tried every possible save method (save current config, new or by game).

      I want it to stay in -emulated hardware: Super Game Boy- but it just reverts back.
      Where do emulators save its settings?

      Got this

      <system>
      <name>supergameboy</name>
      <fullname>Super Game Boy</fullname>
      <path>/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/supergameboy</path>
      <extension>.7z .gb .zip .7Z .GB .ZIP</extension>
      <command>/opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh 0 SYS supergameboy %ROM%</command>
      <platform>supergameboy</platform>
      <theme>supergameboy</theme>
      </system>

      lr-mgba is the only emulator supporting sgb.

        Looks like you found the EmulationStation config file. You want configs/all/retroarch-core-options.cfg
        you are looking for the line that reads
        mgba_gb_model = "Autodetect"
        Change Autodetect to SuperGameBoy
