Utrakball Not working IPAC2
-
New guy here trying to get my Retropie setup working, i installed it in a upright and added a Utrakball and cannot get it working for anything.
-
I added these two lines to /opt/retropie/configs/all
mame2003-mame_current_mouse_enable = "enabled"
mame2010-mame_current_mouse_enable = "enabled" -
I then SSH into my Pi and ran cd /dev/input and then ls -la and it showed Mouse 0 and Mouse 1, I did find that the Ipac2 must show up as a mouse because i unplugged it and only have Mouse 0 know.
-
I ran cat mouse0 and it showed my trackball as mouse "0"
-
I then start Millipede and verified it using MAME2010 Emulator and then into the Retroarch by pressing start X and then i go into the Quick menu and into options and mouse enabled is set to "ON"
-
I then went into the Input and player one binds and set the Mouse to "0"
-
I then went into /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch/config and into the MAME2010 folder and found millipede.cfg
-
I added this line: input_player1_mouse_index = "0"
-
I made sure that RetroArch input driver is set to udev
-
I also went into /opt/retropie/configs/mame-advancemame/advmame-1.4.rc and matched these two lines:
input_map[p1_trackballx] mouse[0,x] mouse[1,x] mouse[2,x] mouse[3,x]
input_map[p1_trackbally] mouse[0,y] mouse[1,y] mouse[2,y] mouse[3,y]
I have messed with this for about 10 hrs trying to get Millipede, centipede and capcom bowling to work with the Utrak ball and no luck. I have read several forums on here but nothing seems to work for me.

@Wisker I can't speak for 2003 or 2010 but I have used advmame 1.4 and 3.9. For 3.9 I didn't have to do anything that I recall (advmame.rc), the trackball just worked. For 1.4, below was my config (advmame-1.4.rc). Note you need romset 106 for either advmame version.
device_mouse raw
device_raw_mousedev[0] /dev/input/mouse0
input_map[p1_trackballx] mouse[0,x]
input_map[p1_trackbally] mouse[0,y] -
So I found that all the ones that had mame2010 as the emulator would not allow the trakball to work so i changed them to mame2003 and the trackball works for those, the centipede is usues lr-fbalpha emulator and trackball doesnt work which i understand it soesnt support but I tried to change the emulator to mame2010 and mame2003 and it would not boot, looking through the emulators config i dont see advmame as being used on any of the games however i do see a folder in cofig that list adv-mame and mameforall not sure what they are? This build was all setup when i got it so im not familiar with how things are laid out. Any advice on centipede or do i need a new rom that runs on Mame2003?
-
Those are all different emulators and you need the right romset in order for them to load.
Sounds like you may be using a 3rd party image which isn't supported here, you are better off redoing your setup with a supported image if you want help from the community, there are two many variables at play.

@rbaker Thanks

@stoney66 I got it from a friend who didn't play it anymore, i'm not sure if its a 3rd party image but i did see him putting on some roms a while back. He is in the service so i am not able to talk to him much. Thanks i will do the research some more.

@Wisker no worries, I'd go through the link I posted and gather some information about your setup so people can help and do some research on how the system works (where roms go etc). Basically when you launch a game there should be a box that pops up where you can enter a menu and select what type of emulator you want to use for the rom, this is where you can use mame 2003, 2010, advmame, fbalpha etc for specific roms or all roms in that group (Arcade as example).
