Installing Experimental Packages from Source.
-
I may have made a mistake. I didn't want to sort through all the emulators on the experimental package page. I decided to download all from source. It has been going for over 24 hours. It is on the compiling part, does it normally take this long? Should I let it continue what it is doing or turn it off?
-
@Link1nTime Some emulators take more than 2 days to compile, so it's normal to take this long - on a Raspberry PI. Just press
Ctrl + C
to interrupt the process. -
Some take that long. Then how long would all of them take?
-
Will I break anything, or corrupt my SD card if I interrupt the process?

It's ok, it's just stopping the installation process.

I'm not sure if someone timed how much it takes to compile all of them on a real Raspberry Pi, but I think just
lr-mess
/lr-mame
take 2+ days each. So I'd advise to install just what you need from there and don't choose the 'all' option. -
Thanks. LOl. Omg I thought it would take like 8 hours at most.

When I want a certain emulator, do I look up the BIOS or the emulator name to install?
-
@Link1nTime If you want a certain emulator, you normally look up the emulator. The BIOS does not appear in the list of the packages, it's sometimes displayed in the Help section of the package itself.

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind.
