      Hi,

First time posting so would appreciate any help you can give me. I've set up RetroPie on a Pi Zero and it's working fine with a SNES style USB controller. I'm playing Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening but I can't get to the save game menu. On a gameboy I would hold down A+B+Select+Start but doing this on the pi just exits the game. Any ideas please?

      Thanks very much

I'll see about testing this tonight. I'm not with my rPi at the moment, is this included with RetroPie or do I need a rom?

        Edit: Found an external rom.

One note before I test. The emulator for Game Boy is lr-gambatte, which is a libretro port of Gambatte that uses RetroArch configurations for your controller.

RetroArch is the official front end for the Libretro API. So you have hotkeys. The combination of Start + Select will exit the game.

If you haven't already, have a look at the links above and see if those help. I'll look at how to save tonight.

When you die, you have a chance to save. This is the only way I've been able to save.

According to the readme for gambatte-libretro, save state is F5, but doesn't seem to work out of the box.

I tried adding this to /opt/retropie/configs/gb/retroarch.cfg but didn't work:

            input_save_state_btn = "f5"

            Sorry I can't help further.

@briankross Morning. Thanks for helping. It's the standard emulator included with EmulationStation - I've just had a look but I'm not sure which developer it is. Thanks again.

Save states, are your friend. You can scroll to the bottom of this page and see what the defualt hotkey is setup for. Of course these are all configurable in retroarch gui.

                Currently Playing: Tetris (Gameboy)

Thanks for everyone's help. I've managed to do it by changing the hot keys for exit to Select+x and for reset to Select+UpAxis by changing the configure files.

Where/how can this be done? XD

                    Thanks!

@briankross to set keyboard keys remove the _btn. Btn is for controller buttons.

This would indeed be useful to know. I can only find the settings to remap the regular controls, not the retroarch hotkeys.
