RPI 2 Model B no HDMI signal and acting weird
-
Hi all,
I have a RPI 2 Model B which I bought my Raspberry Pi from Canakit that came with the power supply etc. I am using the RetroPie 4.4 pre made SD Image from the RetroPie website . I am running into a problem that I think is related to any newer versions of Raspbian, which might also be affecting RetroPie. I cannot seem to get an HDMI signal from my RPI on my 1920x1200 60Hz Samsung PC monitor. It works perfectly fine on a TV via HDMI but on a monitor via a DVI to HDMI adapter it does not seem to display the video signal. I have tried various settings in the /boot/config.txt as suggested by many others and I still cannot seem to get an output. I have also tried on different monitors and some work with a lower resolution while some don't at all. It seems as if the monitor grabs the signal but keeps rejecting it because I can see the signal being detected and only a blank screen is displayed. When using an HDMI to VGA adapter at 1920x1080 it works just fine but not at 1920x1200. Here is the funky thing. When I take that same SD card and put it in my RPI Zero via HDMI to DVI, it works perfectly fine. Another funky thing; when I use an older version of Raspbian that I had on an older SD card in my RPI 2 it works just fine with any resolution. I also tried flashing a fresh Raspbian image that I downloaded from the official website and got no HDMI signal either. I am mind boggled about this as I wanted to use my RPI 2 for my arcade project and mt 1920x1200 monitor. It doesn't make sense that a brand new install shows a blank screen with no signal and that an older version of Raspbian works just fine. Here is a summary in a more organized manner:
RPI 2 with Retropie 4.4 or fresh Raspbian install --> HDMI blank screen no signal, but VGA works up to 1920x1080
RPI Zero with Retropie 4.4 or fresh Raspbian install --> HDMI Works using the same MicroSD
RPI 2 with older Raspbian --> HDMI works using an older MicroSD that had the install of the older versionThanks
