      Hi Folks

Very long time on and off mame player but since coming back I'm a little confused as to some error messages I'm getting while loading ROMS.

I've got a set of 0.78 ROMS that I've cleaned up with Clrmamepro, they seem to work great with lr-mame2003.

I've got a set of later ROMS 0.139 and I've installed lr-mame2010, this is where the confusion starts.

For lots of the games when I select the later emmulator lr-mame2010 it pops up with a retroarch config screen. Does this mean the ROMset (game) is missing parts or is incompatible with the emmulator ? I'd like to play a few games like metalslug, has anyone got these working in retropie...

Any help would be appreciated as I'd like to invest money in an upright cabinet to finally finnish this project off but a few of these ROMS I'd want to try and get working before I spend the money :-)

      Many thanks....

@petez69 lr-mame2010 is experimental according to this. This suggests that you can expect problems. However, if you want to play games like Metal Slug, they work perfectly if you use the Neo-Geo rom set. I am currently using lr-FBA-next for all the Metal Slug titles and the emulation is perfect.

          Hi Mate, thankyou...

I've got a neo-geo romset and tried to run metalslug with lb-FBA-next, seems to bork and come back to the games list...

Thankyou anyway, since you've got it to work then it must work, I just need to experiment more :-)

          Appreciate your help..Pete

@petez69 have you checked that you have the neogeo.zip bios in the same folder as your roms? Also, you need the correct MAME romset for lb-FBA-next? Also try lr-FBA.

You should find that the .dat files help you get a valid romset for the emulator you choose.
              https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Managing-ROMs

It also has links to show if there are any games that still have issues even if you have the right romsets.

As rbaker has said, lr-mame-2010 still has a few teething issues, and to be honest doesnt add a whole lot over using mame-2003. Bear in mind you can use other arcade game emulators in the "arcade" folder if you want to mix and match. I usually use mame-2003 and the latest fba emulator. Gives a very large range of roms to play with.

Please read the Docs before asking a new question.
