Adding Cart Support in EmulationStation?
-
I've been experimenting with adding cart support (IE: displaying a scan of the cartridge or game disc) in a theme. I accomplished this currently by finding a theme that supports marquee images in addition to cover art, then just move it where I wanted it to be. Then, I deleted all the marquee images from the media folder and pasted my cart scans into that directory.
While this does work, it's a sloppy way of doing it. So I need to do one of two things, but I can't seem to find the answer in the online docs or guides I've read. I either need to change my current section in the code from"md_marquee" to whatever label will load them images in the cart folder instead OR create some kind of custom label that will direct to the folder I have setup.
I assume this is possible, or does EmulationStation have a preset list of folder/label directories you can use and that's it (IE: not being about to add in the cart folder)?

@AlphaBetaPie as far as themeing is concerned, images can be displayed through md_marquee or md_image tags. So pick one of them to display the image you want in a theme.

Thanks for the follow- up. So here is the thing. I'm using the video view of a theme, which displays my game clip and a cover image. If I look in the bracket for that section of the XML, I see videos are using the **me_video **and the covers are using md_image to pull whatever content is in the "box2dfront" and "videos" folders in my ROM directory. I do have a third section, which is for the marquee (which is supported in this theme). It uses the **md_marquee **to pull the content from the "screenmarquee" folder.
So is there a way to reassign the cart scans to a different folder by changing or creating a new label? If I want to release this update, folks will have delete their marquees (if they even have that folder setup), then copy/paste their cart scans and put them in the marquee folder to make it (which is what I did just as a quick fix). That might be confusing to some. Would be cleaner if there was a cart folder with some kind of label like md_carts or something like that. Or does ES only support so many labels per view, and I've simply run out?
Thanks!
