PS3 Controller phantom movements..

After running the latest update to retropie, automatic phantom button pushing is occurring with any ps3 controller paired with onboard Bluetooth.

Problem occurs within ES menu.

Problem occurs when installing the ps3driver or pairing it manually.

The problem does not exist when connecting the ps3 controllers via USB cable (wired).

It's likely that you have a Raspberry Pi revision that doesn't support HW flow control for the Bluetooth chip. Interference may account for the phantom inputs (which happens on my Pi, too).

A potential workaround is to reduce the HCI connection speed: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/15967/sony-dualshock-3-call-for-testers-sixaxis-script-module/33

That will apply to the ps3controller or sixaxis driver; I would recommend using the latter on recent RetroPie installations.

Thanks for the reply, @psyke83.

I will give it a try. You mentioned that my board revision may be the issue -- but there was no problem with PS3 controllers over Bluetooth prior to the most recent update. This is leading me to believe that there is a bug in the update?

It's possible that a regression was introduced into the kernel or BT firmware, but all I can tell you for now is that I've seen the phantom issue issue occur for the last year or more.

Wireless congestion from other 2.4G devices will probably exacerbate the issue, so the update may just be a red herring. You should check and see if your Pi 3 is a revision that supports HW flow control (only the 1.3 revision supports it): https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/hardware/raspberrypi/revision-codes/README.md

Unfortunately, the fix suggestion that you provided didn't work in this situation. I have seen people online saying that they have used "alternative ps3 drivers" but not sure what these are or where they are to be found. Any other suggestions?
