I have a Rbpi3 and RetroPie is v4.5.1, which mae is best for compatibility and functionality? My guess is .106 and advancemame, what do u think?

The RetroPie will install the necessary files and create the necessary configuration files when you install the emulator. You just need to copy the proper ROMset files to the ROMs folder (arcade or mame-advmame, see https://retropie.org.uk/docs/MAME/).
As far as compatibility and functionality, you can also try lr-fbneo and/or lr-mame2003-plus, using the Libretro interface for save/load/shaders.

Ive read that section a bunch of times. What do you mean by install the emulator, Isnt the emu already there or do i have to put the binary exe in a folder? Also what is the difference of dropping rhe roms in just the arcade folder or the advancemame folder. If i put out in the arcade folder which emu will run the roms? Thanx
