Hi i'm tryng to install retropie on the Ubuntu 19.10 that I installed on a minipc with:
      Intel Atom x5-Z8350 CPU 1.44Ghz x 4 64bit
      4 GB RAM
      Intel HD Graphics (Cherrytrail)

I follow all the instructions but every time I run an update there are several errors, most of thems finish with "returned 128"
The games runs but the dc, n64, psx and more recent ones are too much slow (maybe cause the cores I download?)

So i don't know if it's an emulator problem or something else.

Anyway I tryed to solve this problem searching some tutorial on internet but most of them ask to run commands on the emulationstation terminal by pressing F4.
The problem is that when i press F4 the emulationstation's program close

I'm not 100% sure that opening emulationstation's terminal is the right solution so differents suggestion are welcome too.

Thank you for your time and sorry for my shit english.

You can find the updates errors in the logs folder - $HOME/RetroPie-Setup/logs, pick a recent update log and update it to pastebin.com.

As for the slowness, I guess it's more about the slow CPU than the emulators themselves.

          Here's the last update:

          https://pastebin.com/a90W2DiQ

I can understand it will be slow for gamecube or some games of n64, but psx runs perfectly in mi raspberry pi3 and i don't see why it should be slower on a pc x4 faster

@zsche you have fails relating to internet connectivity. Make sure your connection is working and reliable.

              https://pastebin.com/a90W2DiQ

You have a lot of errors indicating the system is not connected to the internet:

fatal: unable to access 'https://github.com/reicast/reicast-emulator.git/': Could not resolve host: github.com

That's because pcsx_rearmed is optimized for ARM CPUs. Try using an alternate emulator, like lr-beetle-psx. According to the benchmarks I've seen, that CPU is close to a Pi4's CPU, so I'm not sure if 4x is the right proportion, as far as performance goes.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience i didn't realize the connection went down (I downloaded and installed some cores before and after).
I'm now trying with a different and better connection.
I'll try lr-beetle-psx too, thanks for the tip. (is there a list of emulators compatibility?)

Check the Docs, there is large section with each emulated system and what emulators are available for each one.

I install all the emulators successfully, I noticed that lr-pcsx-rearmed works slightly better than lr-beetle-psx but the audio lag a lot, same for dc, reicast works fine but sometimes the frames fall. Is there a way to fix this? I noticed however that no system exploits all the cpu potential, it's always around 50-60%. I consulted the docs and tutorials but many are made for raspberry and trying to do the same I could not solve the problem.

@zsche what pi are you using? Remember that it may not be the CPU that is the bottleneck. The GPU on models prior to the pi 4 are very weak. It is likely a GPU bottleneck that you are experiencing.

I'm not using a pi, I'm using a minipc "Beelink BT3 Pro II":
                        4 Gb RAM DDR3
                        64 Gb HDD
                        CPU Intel x5-Z8350 (1.44 GHz x4)
                        Intel HD Graphics (Cherrytrail)

                          @zsche have you tried lr-flycast?

Yes lr-flycast is slower than reicast, and lr-redream doesn't start at all
