      Raspberry pi 3
      Retropie 3.8
      Sd card image

Hi all, complete pi novice, just completed a bartop arcade build, after plenty of google/youtube research successfully set up retropie and had it working perfect on hdtv. Tested a few roms, no issues..

Transfered it over to the arcade cabinet that has a 19" vga pc monitor, connected with a hdmi adapter, and this is when the problems begin.

As soon as emulation station loads, the screen will flicker on/off for for between 2 and 5 Seconds repeatedly.

As mentioned I am a complete pi novice and a heap of searching for a solution has yielded no results so far.

Any suggestions much appreciated, in as simple terms as possible please!

      Thanks.

@chrismalin although i've not used an HDMI > VGA adaptor, the first thing that springs to mind is the resolution the pi is outputting - the monitor is probably expecting a maximum of 1024 x 768, but may be receiving 1920 x 1080 (I don't know if your adaptor incorporates scaling hardware, however)

You can use the /boot/config.txt file to force the Pi to output at specific resolutions and refresh rates, so that may be a place you could start looking for a solution.

@RetroResolution thanks for the suggestions. I had suspected it was something along these lines, but as mentioned, being new to the whole pi scene anything I need to do requires some form of tutorial/guidance! I'll get stuck into some research and hope it fixes the problems!
