I have the 19xx games (1941, 1942, 1943, 1944, 1945, and 19xx) running on my system in advancemame and want to disable the feature to continue the game by adding another quarter.

I've found the options in the dip switches for 1941, 1943, and 1945 but cannot find how to disable it in 1942, 1944, and 19xx.

      Any thoughts?

AFAIR 1942 does not have the option to disable continues.

19xx & 1944 are CPSII-Games, you have to press "F2" during gameplay to enter the service menue, this system had no hardware-based dip-switches anymore ;)

@sirhenrythe5th Thank you, that worked for the question that I asked, but those games still allow 'continue' on two-player mode if one player is still playing it allows the second player to join back in by adding another quarter. Is there a way to disable the continue mode all-together?

I have a specific reason that I don't want to get into right now, but disabling the continue feature all-together wold be very helpful in my case.

@DRB unfortunately if the original arcade hardware didn’t have that option, neither will mame in RetroPie. It’s just playing the game how it did in arcades.

I don't see many methods to force an existing arcade game to do something it wasn't originally able to do :

              • Maybe hacking the romset ? Good luck with rom assembly...
              • Maybe you can change this behavior by messing up with the game ram through cheats ? Don't ask me the specifics, idk.

Thanks for the reply. I understand that and don't want to change how it was originally; just looking for the option if it existed.

Just an idea...would it work if you map the button for "Insert Coin P2" to nothing for those specific games?

i itried it yesterday and it seems to work.
I deleted the entry in "Insert Coin Player2".
So if i want to play with a friend i just insert 2 coins with my Player-1 Pad or Arcade-Stick.

On the Display the following message appears: "Press 1 or 2 Player Start".
If you press the 2nd Player-Start-Button both players are in the game.
But as only Player1 can insert coins the 2nd Player cannot continue ;)

@sirhenrythe5th I like the way you think. I am going to try this.
