Retropie gaming, do you?

@Jinnoy I have Emulationstation in an arcade cab, so I only want to use MAME there (have consoles on my HTPC on the tv). I cherry pick everywhere: I only want to have the games I really actually want to play. As such, most of my game lists are between 80 and 120 games. The MAME cab has over 400 however, and I play all of them.

i cherry pick.
i dont need Barbie-Games, 12 Versions of FIFA-Soccer oder any NFL-Games (as an european i even dont know the rules) and so much more....
So i have:100 NES
350 SNES (including nice hacks of Metroid, Mario & Co. + fan-translations)
222 NeoGeo (including about 60 hacks and non-NeoGeo-Games that run better in FBNeo than with MAME)
666 MAME (in Kiosk-Mode / 1347 in total)
80 SEGA CD
350 PSX (including Fan-Translations, latest is "Mizzurna Falls", great game similar to "Deadly Premonition")
30 MS-DOS
35 Scumm-VM
100 PC-Engine (including 35 CD-ROMs)
250 SEGA Mega-Drive (including 32X)
300 GBAFurthermore i categorized all gamelists manually by genre (MAME: by publisher) and searched my own images for them.
Lot of work indeed, but i had years of time as i started with the Raspberry Pi1 :) -
I cherrypicked as well...over 800 games on some 20 systems (based on my own experience and lots of top XX lists on Youtube and websites). I wouldn't want to do that again, so I backed everything up multiple times. :)
But I much prefer it over rom sets as there is so much crap in there.
I haven't added any games since about a year, but I couldn't resist adding New super mario land. -
I use full romsets for cartridge based systems and cherry pick for disc based systems (due to storage space). I prefer full romsets because there are so many games I am unfamiliar with that are very good and I am constantly discovering new favorites. Also when guests play on my pi, often they grew up playing different games than I did so their tastes are invariably different than mine. If there is a game I play very often I will tag it as a favorite so I dont have to go hunting for it.

For me, RetroPie is a way to have a better screen to play the games that I already have - I did have my SNES connected to my LED television but it looked so damn ugly, that I eventually early 2018 I bought a Pi 3 so I could use shaders (and a Switch Pro controller). I enjoyed this so much that last week I bought a Pi 0 and a GPi Case, so I'd have a better way to play my Game Boy (Color) games - as a kid, my little brother recklessly handled the Game Boy, breaking the battery cover and then pealing off the screen protector, and I never got around to buying a new Game Boy since by then I moved away from handheld gaming.
Because of my reasons for getting each Pie, I tend to stick to the games I already bought physically, with a few titles added that never released in my region. And even then, I don't really play that much beyond the Donkey Kong Country trilogy, the Super Star Wars trilogy, Jurassic Park and Astérix & Obélix.

Hello everyone,,
I'm curious on how people use Thier setup. Do you collect all the games made, example 700+ on NES, SNES and Sega etc or do you cherry pick. I love having the option but it's Cumbersome to traverse to the game you want at any given time.
Mobdro Lucky Patcher Kodi
Or do you just have your favorite of each system for a best of , of your own choosing????Thank you my issue has been solved,...

I use
no-intro
romsets with clrmamepro to only include US - EU in first to second to leave out any other region where the in-game language is different from english. These are the best known clean dumps to use. I have chosen to have only full retail releases so that when any guests ask me if i have the that specific game, i can start it up. Usually people have different taste and retrogaming experience from their childhood that differs from mine.To make it easier for me to keep track i use custom collections which i can backup from my own simple USB backup script i created earlier. I like to have a full library available but sorted with custom collections to make it easy to pick a game.
Since i am a father for two girls it is a must to include Barbie and Disney games.
My custom collections looks something like this:
Arcade classics collection
Barbie collection
Castlevania collection
Disney collection
Final Fantasy collection
Mario collection
Mega Man collection
Metroid collection
Sonic collection
The Legend of Zelda collection
Top NES collection
Top Sega collection
Top SNES collection -
I like to have full sets of everything mainly for friends to play whatever they want. My Pi3b hasn't been used in a couple of months though now as I ditched it for a SFF PC so I can run a lot more stuff without any speed issues.
I will probably get back into the PI when the 4 is supported assuming that will offer enough improvements because i do like the portability of it.

I cherrypick aside from the odd few games I can think of here and there, or if there's something specific I want to play.
100 SNES
50 NES
20 PS1
30-40 Mega Drive
30-40 Master System
40 GBA
10-15 GB/GBCCouple of spectrum, scummvm, Mega CD and pc engine games. I've got a few N64 games but that's more to test what will and won't work, as I have an everdrive and an n64 knocking about still anyway. I tried getting some dosbox games to run but it's so cumbersome it just doesn't seem worth it.
