I did a search and did not fine what I was looking for...please forgive me if I am repeating this question. I have put together a Raspberry Pi retrocade and it seems to be working fine with one exception.

When I push the "Coin-In" button (Select) 2x it asks if I want to have one player or two...this is where it goes awry for me. No matter how I try, I cannot seem to map a 2 Players button. (Not two simultaneous players, but Player 1 plays until they die...then Player 2 starts)

I have tried remapping the buttons but to no avail. Any suggestions?

This is highly dependant on the game - some games support 2 player consecutively (like Pac-Man or Super Mario Bros), others support 2 players simultaneously (like the Street Fighter games). It's not something that can be configured in the emulator.
If you have just one gamepad (joystick + buttons) but the game expects 2 players, then you can't change it - the 2nd pair of controls would insert the coin (Select) and also use Start to enter the game.

What game are you trying to play ?
