Hey guys, I need some help. Absolute beginner here and just learning the world of raspberry pi. Im noticing that even if I load roms into the Genesis folder they display as being Megadrive games. To top it off the scraper only pulls Megadrive box art. Now, its not the end of the world, but since Im American and had a Genesis as a kid I would like to have the branding and box art.

A search on here and google shows that the genesis rom folder is linked to the megadrive folder. Ive seen a few other people ask this question but I cant find an answer beyond "just use Megadrive". I also found this github page that gives some instructions on switching to Genesis, but I dont even know where to start!

Can you help a guy out?

Follow the directions on the page you linked.

        https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Genesis-Megadrive#advanced-configuration

Drop to command line and run:

        sudo nano /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg

Hit ctrl+v to scroll down in the nano editor
make the changes to the megadrive section as instructed.
hit ctrl+o to write the file out
hit ctrl+x to leave nano editor

type emulationstation and hit enter to get back into emulation station.

You'll likely need to do something to clear out your scrapes though.

Worked like a charm! I was missing the "sudo nano" part. Thanks for giving me some easy instructions!

@skiddlz, I have to do this every time I update since it adds in Megadrive to the file you edited. Go to that file and delete your old Genesis entry. Find the new Megadrive entry and rename it to Genesis.

I may try what herb fargus is suggesting so I don't have to do this 452 more times.
