      I tried to change the visible name to something else and then it started giving this message upon shutdown or restart. I changed it back to what it was but it is still doing it. I dont know if it affected anything but how do I make sure this is ok?

        What does cat /etc/hosts say - you should have an entry like

        pi@retropie:~ $ cat /etc/hosts
        127.0.0.1	localhost
        ::1		localhost ip6-localhost ip6-loopback
        ff02::1		ip6-allnodes
        ff02::2		ip6-allrouters

        127.0.1.1	retropie

          @BuZz

          127.0.0.1	localhost
          ::1		localhost ip6-localhost ip6-loopback
          ff02::1		ip6-allnodes
          ff02::2		ip6-allrouters

          127.0.1.1	Killer Arcade

          It kept what I changed it to? All I was trying to do was change it so when I see it in the Network on Windows it comes up the name "Killer Arcade." I went in again and made sure Host Name is now "retropie" as it was but still getting the message. Still coming up "Killer Arcade" per your request.

            Hi

            Did you also change /etc/hostname ?

            Cheers

            Paul

              @PaulCheffus I do not know where/how I could change that, I only went into the settings through the UI and changed host name.

              Here is an example of what I did (and tried to change back to):

              Reference: https://learn.adafruit.com/running-opengl-based-games-and-emulators-on-adafruit-pitft-displays/retropie-setup

              sudo raspi-config

              •Under Advanced Options, change Hostname if desired (default is “retropie”) and enable SSH (for remote administration).

                Hi

                That was the link to the file but if you did it via the UI I suspect it has changed.

                The following command will show the contents
                cat /etc/hostname

                Cheers

                Paul

                  you can't have spaces in your hostname. Both /etc/hostname and the entry in /etc/hosts should match.

                    @BuZz said in sudo: unable to resolve host retropie:

                    Since I only went into one place to try and enter the name and then went back to that same place and put it back to the way it was (retropie, w/o spaces), how do I modify the data the places you are mentioning? Is it just a matter of pulling them up in the command line and changing it?
