Retropie wont open since upgrade to Ubuntu 18

Hi new member here. I am looking for some help with my pc setup. I ran retropie on ubuntu 16 for along time with zero issues. Then I upgraded to ubuntu 18 and retropie wont open at all. I can click on it and it flashes like it will open but never does. Any help would be appreciated. I apologize if this has already been addressed. I did a search and didn't find anything.

Need more info..you updated Retropie completely? What version?
I suspect you didn't update retropie and packages after upgrading perhaps.
You can type
emulationstationin a terminal to see if it throws any errors.
