      I use 2 8bitdo receivers and after every restart if i dont unplug and plug back in the controller will not work in emulationstation. The controller will connect to the 8bitdo, but nothing works unless i unplug usb and plug back in.

        Need more info about your system. Make sure you have the latest firmware on the controllers also.

          @BuZz i am running the most recent build of retropie on ununtu 18.04 built yesterday from source.

          I see there is an 8bitdo option under retropie settings bluetoorh, that writes to bluetooth rules. I assume this may be the culprite as the docs specify if this is not done the controller would not work on a restart.
