New Pi Man help

Hi Guys!

Brand new to the pi world and excited to get started! I have done some initial research and noticed something new called Hyperpie which appears to be a mix of Raspberry Pi and "Hyperspin". This is what I would like to use. I would like to post what I plan to buy to build my system and would appreciate any comments/suggestions as well as some questions I have!..

QUESTIONS

Is it possible to stretch the Pi so it goes full screen appose to having sidebars?
Is the Sanwa stick and buttons listed above the correct ones to use for my setup, and how do I connect them to the Raspberry Pi?
Do I need to buy anything else kit wise to make this work?
Does the stick & buttons need any configuration once connected i.e how does it know which button is top left, bottom right etc?
Has anyone bought from the company www.hyperspin-systems.com and are they the actual people that made Hyperspin? I am dubious as I noticed their email is via Hotmail and would assumed they had their own Domain?
The SD they sell claim to have the entire HyperPie system setup. How hard would it be for me to do all that myself and is it free if I buy my own blank SD card?
Finally, once all setup and built, how do you actually boot the Pi when you turn the arcade on?

The Hyperspin/Hyperpie combo looks like a bunch of scammers - selling preloaded systems with games. The RetroPie image - and quite a few of the emulators - have non-commercial licenses, it's illegal to sell them.
We don't support such 3rd party images - pre-loaded with ROMs and sold against the project's license.

The image we're supporting and building is the one from retropie.org.uk/download.

I love how they make it sound like they are selling something unique. But really they are just repackaging someone else's software (free software) with a bunch of roms. All the pictures of the scantly clad women really are the icing on the cake. These guys really take shitty scammers to a whole new level.

But youre lucky you came here first before buying because now you can save yourself a ton of money by setting up retropie for free now. :)

To be honest man if your going to be putting this nice hardware in this nice cabinet, I’d spend a little extra money and build a nice PC to run this all with and forget about the pi....

What would the benefit be? Does Pi run slower than a PC would? Is there noticeable lag?

A PC has more power than a PI or any other small board computer (SBC), both CPU and GPU wise.

They aren't doing anything you cant do yourself. Just looks like they are using emulation station or attract mode as the front end. Plus they have so many systems set up on that image I don't know how you would ever find anything...

Yes you can set resolution and aspect ratio to your hearts content.

I don't have experience with arcade style controls but it should be very easy to setup. There are a lot of people who use setups similar to what you're looking for.

It looks like the Nevato theme of the frontend Attract Mode which is available in Retropie's experimental packages.

2.8mm for Japan controls, I've ordered from that website a few times and have no complaints. I'd also recommend trying to wire up this:

It's nice having it all controlled with one switch and just one kettle lead needed to plug it in.

@taz101 you probably will need to configure controls after, I did with my bartop and made custom screens to show the controls while the game loads. Makes playing a lot easier.

Hyperpie is Retropie with Attract Mode and themes added ready to go, you can get the base image for it for free so don't pay someone for it.
