Black screen issue
-
The verbose setting was to add more into to the log file, I didn't think it would change the video output. Says in the log that resolution is 1600x1200 - is that correct for your monitor ?
Try to run RetroArch standalone, without any RetroPie configs, just to rule out any issue with the default configuration. RunHOME=/tmp/ra /opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/bin/retroarch -v --menu
and see if anything changes.

thanks for replying, mitu.
yes, that's the correct resolution. the build was 20.1" dell monitor that mod to fit into an arcade 1up cab.
run the code, retroarch launch, but still black screen.arcadecab@arcadecab-750-411:~$ HOME=/tmp/ra /opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/bin/retroarch -v --menu

Did you install the AMD driver for your card ? Did you try with the open source (
radv
) driver instead ? -
i have not, i am new to ubuntu and retropie. i will that now and report back.
-
Please can you use a pastebin site for your large logs or format them with markdown (three backticks above and below).
-
@BuZz sorry, i am new to this
after install vulkan
here's the log
pastebin.com/TLmcibg1 -
That doesn't seem to work at all - but it looks like it's using the same GPU driver (proprietary AMD install).
-
@mitu i guess i dont know how to install valkun
i uninstall amdpro first, then i follow this
https://linuxconfig.org/install-and-test-vulkan-on-linux. -
If the
vulkaninfo
command is ok, then try switching the RetroArch's video driver fromgl
tovulkan
in/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg
. It should be the line withvideo_driver
. -
@mitu you are a miracle worker!!!! working perfectly now. thank you so much for all the help. :)
