Hi everyone. I’m Very new. I’ve been using retropie with no problems for a while now. I’ve just updated the packages through the retropie menu and it’s stopped all usb working. I have a 360 receiver and a keyboard plugged in and they worked fine before the package update. Now broken.

I tried updating a year and a half ago and had the same problem, I thought maybe it’d be a fixed problem by now.

I have a backup and can go back to it. But I would like to have everything updated and have the USB devices working.

Can anyone help with this? Is there something I’m doing wrong by updating through retropie?

      Thks. Chris.

If you didn't report it as a problem - and indeed there is a bug somewhere - how could this have been solved ?

RetroPie doesn't install or remove any USB drivers - these are part of the operating system (Raspbian if you use a Pi system).

Please provide more info about your system, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first. Did you update the OS packages/kernel/firmware with the update ?

Thanks for your reply. Next time I’ll post properly cheers for the heads up on that.

I rolled it back and then updated again and this time I didn’t update the kernel when it gave the option and it didn’t break USB. Does that sound like a reasonable explanation to why it did it? Thks. Chris.

Well, yes - but if the kernel/firmware update breaks USB it would be better to know the cause and try to fix it, so updates would work without having this problem occur.

You haven't provided any of the info asked in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first, that would be a first step in trying to diagnose and fix the issue.
