This is a Pi 3B+ using the latest SD card image from the site. I installed Kodi from the optional packages after first obtaining the latest setup script and running a full update. However, Kodi 18.2 is what gets installed yet 18.5 is the latest version. I use 18.5 on my SHIELD TV and this Pi serves as a secondary Kodi/Retropie box in my bedroom. Every time i load Kodi it notifies me of a new version yet I cant figure out how. Sudo apt-get update and upgrade doesnt do it. Sudo apt-get install Kodi just ends with nothing updated. So it appears as if 18.2 is the newest available version for this image. Is this the case? Is there a way to upgrade at all?

Kodi is installed from the version available in the Pipplware repositories, which usually is the latest version. However, if you're running a Raspbian Stretch image (like the latest RetroPie 4.5 release), the latest version available for this version of Raspbian is 18.2, so installing 18.5 via RetroPie is not possible.
You'll have to wait for a Raspbian Buster based image/release in order to be able to install 18.5.

@devsfan1830 And the changes between 18.5 and 18.2 are minimal, it's a minor version update only. Just ignore the warning, it appears only once when there is a new version.

PS: I still use Raspbian Stretch + RetroPie latest stable version + Kodi 18.2 on my main Raspberries and Kodi works fine for what I use.

Thanks for clarifying that. I know the bug fixes were minor but I was not aware of how the Kodi versions were handled on Retropie and it was driving me nuts! I shall eagerly await Buster.
