      Hi all.
      Fighting with audio on my new pi4.
      Unable to get audio via HDMI or the 3.5mm Jack.
      Using micro HDMI to VGA, has a 3.5mm splitoff for audio. Tried this and the on board 3.5mm.
      This setup works in lakka.
      Also, games take forever to launch even with a class 10 card.
      Any ideas?

        @dirthurts Well, the audio issue seems to have sorted itself. I booted it up again today and it's working great. O.K. then.

        But, I'm still having horribly long load times (we're talking over a minute for a SNES/Genesis game.
        It's a Samsung Evo Class 10 card, so that shouldn't be the issue.

        Any ideas there?

          It's a DEV BUILD. There are going to be mess-ups.

            @dirthurts post a verbose log (see runcommand documentation).

              @BuZz I've been digging around the documentation, can't find anything about Verbose Logging in particular...
              Is this the page you were referring to?

                @dirthurts Enable verbose logging from the launch menu. Then head to /dev/shm/runcommand.log

                  @Darksavior Alrighty, so, I'm closer.
                  Using putty to go to /dev/shm/runcommand.logo I get
                  "-bash: /dev/shm/runcommand.log: Permission denied.
                  How do I gain permission to see this?

                    @dirthurts That's a log file, you don't 'execute' it, you open it in a text editor (nano /dev/shm/runcommand.log) or look at it with a pager (less /dev/shm/runcommand.log).
                    If you have SSH enabled, then use WinSCP to download the file on your PC, then upload its contents on pastebin.com to take a look.

                      Oh, of course! Thank you. That makes perfect sense (really don't use linux much).

                      This is what I got out of it, unless I'm doing this wrong...
                      I didn't see anything obviously help to myself...

                        There's no obvious error in the log and the lack of timestamps makes it difficult to know which steps times out. However, can you try disconnecting the 8bitdo gamepad and use the keyboard only just for a test ? See if the timeout still appears.

                          @mitu I'll do that.
                          Thinking back, the system does appear to hang until it pops up the controller being connected to the port, then it loads fast and suddenly.
                          If this is the issue is there a solution?

                            I've seen this issue reported with Xinput based controllers - regardless if using RetroPie or not. Since these 8Bitdo controllers have multiple connection modes (PC/Switch), try changing the connection type from PC to Switch. Update the firmware on the controller, that helps sometimes.

                              @mitu switching the controller to the switch mode, which I didn't realize would even pair, fixed the loading issue. Crazy!
                              It does introduce some input lag but still very usable.

                              Thanks so much!
