Hey Guys, I just joined this, and working on my second MAME. The First was a huge hit and was built off Windows XP and Mamewah on an older IPAC2 (PS2 version) running about 6 consoles. I have since purchased a RasPie3 and a new IPAC2 (USB). The RetroPie seems pretty seemless but before I cut all the holes in the new Control Panel I was hoping to get some feedback. The trackball I used prior was an older PS2 connected 2 1/4" trackball. It worked well before and I would like to reuse this with retroPie. Has anyone just simply put a USB adapter on the PS2 trackball and had it function fine (with a little configuration I'm assuming) or do I need to hard wire this? There is in addition to the PS2 connector, 4 wires that I never used on the trackball...black, yellow, green, and red. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

@drzima9999 I am hoping someone will chime in using a similar configuration, but you might be able to test this yourself.

First, I am using an Ultimarc U-Trak and it works great in emulators that support trackball. However, mine already has a USB interface. Here's the deal--it's recognized by the Pi as a mouse, and any emulator that will accept spinner/trackball control is going to do it via the mouse input.

So. . . I think you can test this yourself pretty easily by flashing a SD card with Raspbian. Get to the desktop and see if your own trackball controls the cursor via your PS2->USB adapter. If it works, it should work in RetroPie. If not, you can troubleshoot from there. You need the device to show up as a mouse, whether on a Pi or on other hardware. Plenty of folks have probably figured it out over on BYOAC forums.

@caver01 thanks. I plan to put the trackball into USB mode and use it as a mouse to try it!
